Vehicle Engineering are now searching for an experienced Software Release Leader with perceptive leadership skills. About us Vehicle Engineering is one of three development units within Engineering at Volvo cars. Vehicle Engineering develops interior, body & exterior, chassis & climate solution/systems. This position is placed in Gothenburg, Sweden, but the Unit is located both in Gothenburg and Shanghai Software Factory & Release is an enabling section with the purpose of building the SW, Continues Integration flow within the Vehicle Engineering unit. We provide skills within SW testing, HIL rigs, SW integration and SW release flow. What´s in it for you As the Software Release Leader for Vehicle Engineering, you will play a central role in planning, coordinating, and communicating software release activities across multiple vehicle programs. You will ensure that required testing is executed and that all changes align with the program agreed product content and associated risks. In this position, you will build a large cross functional network within the Engineering organization. What you will do In this role, you will: • Lead and drive the release of software and related documentation across vehicle programs. • Plan, communicate, and execute the Software Plan to secure timely, successful milestones for release events. • Represent Vehicle Engineering in cross functional forums and serve as the main interface toward Release Leaders within the Software Engineering Office. • Collaborate closely with Software Integration Leaders to prepare functional content and documentation for software release branches. • Safeguard release content with a deep understanding of software plans and processes—ensuring correct documentation and configuration integrity. • Monitor and manage Vehicle Engineering fault reports affecting the release branch and actively support their resolution. • Guide Software Teams within Vehicle Engineering on the release plan, merge requests, test needs, and delivery scheduling. • Use your network and influence to resolve blockers and secure alignment across teams. • Work closely with other integration and release leaders, as well as the Unit Test Leader, to create and execute release focused test plans. • Track test outcomes and provide the Unit Program Manager with up to date software release status for program reporting. To thrive in this role, you have: • Solid experience working with software integration and release processes. • An engineering background—university degree or equivalent professional experience in Software Engineering or Electrical Engineering. • Documented leadership skills and the ability to lead through influence and collaboration. • Experience in automotive software engineering and release documentations • Knowledge of Volvo Cars Product Development processes is an advantage. • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
